Hello!
Welcome to the Tuscola Choir page. This year promises to be another great year with many talented singers. In Tuscola, we have 4 choirs: TCHS Concert Choir, TCHS Honors Choir, East Prairie 6th grade choir, & East Prairie 7th/8th grade choir.
We also have an outstanding group of 7th & 8th graders who sing the National Anthem at many home games.. It is an auditioned group who is dedicated to singing our the "Star Spangled Banner" Several members from the HS choirs provide the National Anthem at every home HS girls sporting events.
Each choir participates in Organizational Contests. We routinely receive 1st Division Ratings every year at contest. All of the contests are designed to help our students grow as musicians, performers, and singers.
A LITTLE ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
I was born in Durango, Colorado, but grew up in Aurora, Illinois. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Choral Education from Western Illinois University, and Masters of Arts degrees in Choral Conducting & Vocal Performance from Eastern Illinois University. Beside studying with excellent teachers at WIU & EIU, I have studied private voice at the Chicago Lyric Opera & at the University of Illinois.
I am in my 33rd year of teaching in Tuscola. When I started teaching here, I only planned to stay for a few years, and eventually return to the Chicago area, where I grew up. However, I loved teaching in this small community, and made the decision to stay here. It has been wonderful being part of an outstanding school system, and a supportive community. I live in Tuscola with my husband, Dan. Our son, Jacob, is a sophomore at ISU, and our daughter works at the White House & lives in Washington D.C.
